Young Italian dancer and choreographer Virginia Spallarossa takes us on a journey into the past and memories whose fragments and events can help us understand who we are today. “No emotions, just a rational approach,” says Spallarossa in describing her performance. But she doesn’t mean it completely literally: Her piece is full of humor, exaggeration and understanding for human error. It is our new “adult” identity that tries to protect itself, avoiding reality while waiting for its opportunity.

Virginia Spallarossa
studied modern and classical dance in Italy. In 1994, she left to study at Merce Cunningham’s academy in New York. She has worked with the Olympic Contemporary Ballet in London and New York, and has frequently appeared as a dancer in opera performances (Teatro alla Scala in Milan, Rome Opera, Florence City Theatre, Bunkakhan in Tokyo, Bayerisches Staatsballett in Munich). Since 2007, she has danced in several projects by the Déjà Donné ensemble, where she also worked as assistant choreographer and director (performances in Salzburg and at Prague’s Duncan Center). Beside Ouf, she is the author of numerous other performances (including An ear x a leg, Mostarda, Apollo Living Room, and 2:2=1), which she has presented at festivals in Italy and abroad.
